The Clymene Dolphin will sometimes spin when it comes out of the water, leading to its nickname: the “short-snouted spinner dolphin.” The smallest of the Stenella dolphins, Clymene Dolphins will usually only spin part of the way when leave the water. After breaking the surface of the water, they will rotate along their long axis and land on their side or back, completing only a partial revolution.
